W. 4TH

This project began, like many good New York stories, at a party - specifically my annual Christmas party. A dear college friend of mine mentioned that his girlfriend was on her way. When she arrived, wrapped in a vintage coat and carrying a Loewe bag, we instantly hit it off. Somewhere between the carols and cocktails, she turned to me and said,

“I think we need your help.”

The apartment, tucked inside a 1915 West Village townhouse, already had so much to love: a wood-burning fireplace, incredible windows, and lots of Village light. However, it needed clarity and softness. Once a bachelor pad, it was becoming a shared home, and the space needed to rise to the occasion.

The brief was to transform the apartment into serene and grown-up space. Natural textures, warm neutrals, and sculptural lines gave the apartment a sense of ease - grounded but still elevated. We layered in vintage pieces, tailored upholstery, and quiet color to create a sense of calm with just enough personality.

A few favorite details: the c.1963 Clement Meadmore sling chair in the great room, a custom floor-to-ceiling headboard in a Schumacher heavyweight linen in the bedroom, and a mid-century Jack Cartwright desk anchoring the small office.
